Five days in Dubai gives you enough time to experience everything — the desert, the city, the beaches, the mountains, and the culture — without rushing. Here's the perfect day-by-day plan.

5 Day Dubai Itinerary — The Complete Travel Guide for 2026

Five days is the sweet spot for Dubai. Three days feels rushed. A week starts to drag unless you love shopping malls. Five days gives you time for the desert, the city, the beach, a day trip, and a genuinely relaxing final day — without the pressure of cramming everything into every hour.

This itinerary is designed so your biggest experiences happen on days 1 and 2 while you are freshest, gentler days fall in the middle, and the final day is flexible for whatever you missed or want to repeat.

Day 1 — Evening Desert Safari

Theme: ease into Dubai + the big experience.

Morning + Afternoon: Arrive and settle in

If you arrived the night before or early morning, use the first half of day 1 to settle into your hotel, get oriented, and walk your neighbourhood. If you are in Dubai Marina, walk the promenade. If you are in Downtown, walk to Burj Khalifa plaza and get your bearings. Have a relaxed lunch. Do not overschedule — jet lag and heat take more out of you than expected.

Evening (3:00 PM – 9:30 PM): Evening desert safari

Day 1 evening is the evening desert safari with BBQ dinner. This is your single best experience in Dubai and you want to do it while you are excited, not exhausted. Hotel pickup at 3:00 PM, dune bashing, sunset on the dunes, camel riding, sandboarding, and a BBQ dinner at a desert camp with live entertainment. Back at your hotel by 9:30 PM. From AED 89 per person.

Day 1 budget: AED 89-150 per person

Day 2 — Modern Dubai + Beach + Dinner Cruise

Theme: skyline + water + glamour.

Morning (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Burj Khalifa + Dubai Mall

The world's tallest building is best visited in the morning before the crowds arrive. The standard observation deck (level 124/125) costs around AED 150-200. For something special, the Burj Khalifa Lounge at level 152-154 offers drinks and a premium atmosphere from AED 630. After Burj Khalifa, explore Dubai Mall — the aquarium is viewable for free from the ground floor.

Afternoon (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM): JBR Beach + water sports

Head to JBR Beach for swimming and sunbathing (free). For adrenaline, try a jetski ride near Burj Al Arab (AED 450, 30 minutes) or a jet car ride on the Marina (AED 475). Both are uniquely Dubai experiences you cannot find in most cities.

Evening (7:00 PM – 9:30 PM): Marina dhow dinner cruise

End the day with a dhow dinner cruise through Dubai Marina. Buffet dinner on a traditional boat, live entertainment, and the Marina skyline glowing around you. From AED 90 per person. Check our dhow cruise comparison guide for options.

Day 2 budget: AED 250-500 per person

Day 3 — Old Dubai + Dubai Frame + Relax

Theme: culture + heritage + slower pace.

Morning (9:00 AM – 12:30 PM): Heritage Dubai

Take the Dubai half-day city tour with hotel pickup (AED 349 per group) or do it yourself. Visit Al Fahidi Historical District, cross the Creek on an abra (AED 1), walk through the Spice Souk and Gold Souk. This is the real Dubai — the one that existed before the skyscrapers.

Afternoon (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM): Dubai Frame

The Dubai Frame is a 150-metre tall picture frame that shows old Dubai on one side and new Dubai on the other. The glass floor walkway at the top is thrilling. Takes about 1 hour including the queue.

Afternoon/Evening: Pool + relax

After two big days, you have earned a rest. Spend the afternoon at your hotel pool. If you want a light evening activity, walk around City Walk or La Mer — both are casual outdoor dining and shopping areas with good atmosphere.

Day 3 budget: AED 100-400 per person

Day 4 — Day Trip: Jebel Jais Mountain OR Adventure Day

Theme: get out of the city + something different.

Option A: Jebel Jais mountain tour

A complete change of scenery. The Jebel Jais tour from Dubai takes you to the highest peak in the UAE (1,934 metres) in Ras Al Khaimah. Winding mountain roads, canyon viewpoints, cool air, and a landscape that looks nothing like Dubai. Full-day trip with hotel transfers from AED 799 per group. You will be back by late afternoon.

Option B: Desert adventure morning

If you loved the desert on day 1, go back for more — but this time as the driver. A self-drive dune buggy (from AED 1,950 per group) or quad biking (from AED 949 per group) in the morning gives you an entirely different perspective on the dunes. You are back by lunchtime with the afternoon free.

Or try the camel ride with quad bike combo — peaceful camel riding followed by an ATV adventure. 5 hours from AED 990 per group.

Evening: free

After a full day trip, keep the evening low-key. Dinner at a Marina restaurant, walk along the Palm Jumeirah boardwalk at sunset, or just rest at the hotel.

Day 4 budget: AED 200-600 per person

Day 5 — Flexible Day + Departure Prep

Theme: fill the gaps + whatever you enjoyed most.

If you love attractions:

Visit the Museum of the Future — Dubai's newest and most Instagram-famous building. Immersive exhibitions about space, ecology, and AI inside a stunning torus-shaped structure. Or take the kids to IMG Worlds of Adventure — the world's largest indoor theme park.

If you love the desert:

Book a sunrise desert safari — completely different experience from the evening version. Early morning pickup, golden sunrise over empty dunes, dune bashing in cool sand. Back at your hotel by 9:00 AM with the whole day ahead. From AED 449 per group.

If you love food and culture:

Book a Friday brunch at one of Dubai's hotels — it is a weekly institution. Unlimited food and drinks for AED 200-400 at most 4-5 star hotels. Go hungry. Or revisit the old souks for souvenir shopping — bargaining is expected and part of the fun.

If you love relaxation:

Spend the morning at Kite Beach (quieter than JBR), have lunch with a view, and leave the afternoon open for last-minute shopping or just enjoying the hotel pool before heading to the airport.

Day 5 budget: AED 50-500 per person depending on choices

5-day Dubai budget summary

  1. Budget trip: AED 1,000-1,500 per person (desert safari + free beaches + affordable dining + selective attractions)
  2. Mid-range trip: AED 2,000-3,000 per person (safari + cruise + 2-3 attractions + moderate dining + one day trip)
  3. Premium trip: AED 4,000-6,000 per person (private safari + Burj Khalifa Lounge + yacht cruise + water sports + mountain day trip + premium dining)

These exclude flights and hotel. Hotel costs in Dubai range from AED 200/night (3-star) to AED 1,500/night (5-star beachfront).

When to visit Dubai

October to March is the ideal window — comfortable temperatures, all outdoor activities available, Global Village open. Read our full best time for a desert safari guide for seasonal details. If you are visiting in summer, check our summer desert safari guide for how to plan around the heat.

Practical tips for 5 days in Dubai

  1. Stay in Dubai Marina or Downtown — both are central with metro access.
  2. Get a Nol card for the metro — AED 25 with AED 19 credit. Covers most transit.
  3. Download Careem for taxis — cheaper than street hailing for short trips.
  4. Book evening activities (safari, cruise) in advance — especially in winter peak season.
  5. Friday is the weekend. Saturday is also off for most people. Plan major activities for weekdays for smaller crowds.
  6. Tap water is safe but tastes mineral-heavy. Bottled water is cheap (AED 1-2) and available everywhere.
  7. Tips are not expected but appreciated. AED 10-20 for safari drivers, AED 5-10 for restaurant servers.
  8. The Dubai metro closes at midnight (1am on weekends). After that, use Careem/taxi.
