For the most comfortable weather, the best months to visit Dubai are November to March. If you can't travel then, or you'd rather avoid the busiest weeks, the shoulder months are worth considering. March is the safest shoulder month, October suits travellers who don't mind some heat, and April works if you plan your days around the middle of the day. Here's how we'd choose. March gives you close to winter weather with fewer holiday crowds than December. October is good for beach and water lovers and for being there as the winter season starts. April suits flexible travellers who are happy with early mornings, evenings outdoors and indoor stops during the afternoon. Weather varies from year to year, so treat what follows as a general pattern rather than a forecast.

The short answer by type of traveller

  • First-time visitors who want to be outdoors a lot: March.
  • Beach, pool and water sports fans: October, when the sea is still warm.
  • Travellers who want quieter hotels and attractions: April or early October, although this depends on school holidays and events.
  • Families with young children who find the heat tiring: March, or winter if your dates can move.
  • Desert fans: any of the three months works if you choose the time of day carefully. Our guide to morning vs evening desert safaris will help you pick.

March, April and October at a glance

MonthHow it usually feelsCrowds and demandPlan your days around
MarchWarm and mostly pleasant, sometimes breezyStill busy, as it's part of the main seasonFull outdoor days, desert at any time
AprilHot by midday, fine in the mornings and eveningsUsually quieter, apart from holiday weeksEarly starts, indoor afternoons, evening plans
OctoberHot and often humid early on, easing later in the monthPicking up as the season startsWater, evening outings, the season's first openings

March – the easy choice

March still feels a lot like winter, which is why it's our safest recommendation among the shoulder months. You can do a morning or sunset desert safari, spend an afternoon walking around the city and eat outside in the evening without the weather getting in the way. Seasonal attractions such as Global Village are usually still open, but check closing dates for your trip.

A few things to consider. March is still in the main season, so hotels and popular tours can fill up. Spring can also bring windy, dusty days that make views hazier. In 2027, Ramadan is expected to begin in February and end in early March, followed by the Eid al-Fitr holiday, depending on the moon sighting. Tours still run, but some timings and dining arrangements change, so check your dates.

April – warmer, quieter, plan around the heat

In April the heat builds. Middays can feel hot, but mornings and evenings are still good for being outdoors. If you're happy to structure your day around the heat, you'll often find calmer attractions and more choice outside the holiday weeks.

A good April day starts early, stays indoors through the afternoon and heads out again at sunset. A sunrise desert safari or an evening desert safari avoids the hottest hours. In the afternoon, the Museum of the Future, the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo or Ski Dubai keep you cool.

April isn't ideal if you want long walks through the city at midday or if anyone in your group struggles in the heat. In that case, choose March or wait for the winter months.

October – the season restarts

October is when Dubai's cooler season begins. The start of the month can still feel like summer, with heat and humidity, but conditions usually improve as the weeks go on. The sea is still warm, which makes it a good month for the beach, jet skiing and water sports.

It's also the month when seasonal attractions reopen and outdoor terraces start to fill up again. Global Village usually begins its season in autumn, although opening dates are announced each year, so check before you plan around it. Our Global Village and Dubai Frame tour is a good choice once it's open.

October suits travellers who enjoy warm weather, want to be there as the season starts and don't mind doing their outdoor sightseeing in the morning or evening. For the coolest days, November onwards is a better bet.

How to plan a shoulder-season day

The simplest way to plan a day in these months is in three parts:

This works in all three months. In March, you can relax it and stay outside for longer. In April and early October, stick to it more closely. For a fully planned first visit, our 3-day Dubai itinerary gives you a framework you can adapt to the season.

  • Morning: outdoor sightseeing, a sunrise or morning desert trip, or the beach before it gets hot.
  • Afternoon: indoor attractions, the malls, Burj Khalifa or a rest at your hotel.
  • Evening: a desert safari, a cruise, the souks or an outdoor dinner.
